Dedication of Flags and Standard

When new lodges of the Order of Sons Of Italy are founded, the American and Italian Flags and a lodge standard are purchased to use at the lodge functions and parades.

In May 1931, a committee chaired by Miro Curti, was formed to plan a dedication celebration. A dance preceding the day of celebration and a ticket drawing were held to raise money. Hanford Lodge united with Roma Lodge to have the celebration at Mooney Grove Park, Sunday August 29th. Pierina Raviscioni and Margurite Vigano were American and Italian flag queens and Madeline Bianco was queen of the lodge standard. Mary Bardone and Charles Danielle were Little Miss Italy and Little Uncle Sam. Three men members bid for the privilege of escorting the flags and standard queens. They were Steve Guraudi, American Flag Queen: Enrico Raviscioni, Italian Flag Queen: John Rolfo, lodge standard. The day of the dedication A barbeque was held at noon followed by a program of speeches and band music furnished by a Sons of Italy band from the lodges of Fresno. Grand Deputy of Roma Lodge, Joe Finni of Enrico Caruso Lodge of Visalia, was the featured speaker of the celebration.

Pierina Raviscioni recited poems describing the American Flag and Flag Day.
